TRAILHEAD: Big Rock Trail #693
LOCATION: Forest service road 319 (fog mtn rd), nez perce-clearwater national forests, SELWAY-BITTERROOT WILDERNESS
RATING: MODERATE
DESCRIPTION:
Due to popular demand, we’ve added a second volunteer project in the Selway Crags this summer! We hope you can join us!
Led by SBFC Trail Crew alumni, this project will take place on the Big Rock Trail #693. We’ll kick off midday on Thursday, August 7, with a group orientation and potential hike up Big Fog Saddle for scenic views of the Crags. Over the weekend, we’ll brush vegetation, cut out downfall, and improve trail tread on about 5 miles of the #693 trail. We may even check out Cove Lakes if time allows.
Please note that Fog Mountain Road can be steep and rutted, so trailers are not recommended.
This will be a trailhead-based camping project.
SBFC will provide all meals—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks—so you can focus on the experience and enjoy your time outdoors.
