Details:
This project focuses on repairing and maintaining the Salmon River Trail #096, a vital artery along the Salmon Wild and Scenic River Corridor. Located in the heart of the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, this is some of the most remote and beautiful terrain in the lower 48!
Working within the 2023 Elkhorn Fire burn scar, we will tackle heavy reconstruction to ensure the trail remains safe and sustainable. Our priorities include reconstructing tread, building rock retaining walls, reinforcing stream crossings, and improving trail drainage. Expect a physically demanding but rewarding project, as you’ll be moving plenty of rock and dirt using traditional wilderness tools to protect one of the longest undammed river ecosystems in the U.S.
SBFC will provide breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks.
